I recently heard from someone who came across an old tape recording of mine, from 1990, and was so happy to hear my little weirdo songs again that he put three of them up on a web page: http://pelog.net/debHiett.html
These songs were recorded on a home 4-track cassette mix system, and written just to share with my family and friends. It makes me so happy to know that someone remembered them fondly, and took the time to hunt me down and put them up.
And the best part is that his kids listen to them now, and love them, too. |

Deb at Dixon Place in NYC - Oct 12!
|
| 03 Oct 2005 |
| |
I had such a great time reading some new monologues at Dixon Place in New York City on Wednesday Oct 12! Dixon Place is a wonderful little performance space at 258 Bowery, which is trying to raise funds for an incredible new theatre they're building. Ellie Covan is the amazing artistic director who has been an institution on the New York performance scene for nearly 20 years. Thank you, Ellie, for letting me workshop some new material while I was in town!

Deb on Desperate Housewives!
|
| 29 Jul 2005 |
| |
I was in the second episode of Desperate Housewives, aired Oct 2! I played the woman in the tuxedo shop with Bree and Rex's mom.
It was wonderful on the set -- everyone so professional and organized. Marcia Cross and Shirley Knight were terrific to work with, and very kind to me. Met Eva Longoria at lunch, who is also very sweet.
Now, they just need to make me a recurring character.....! |

Sketch for "Real Time with Bill Maher!"
|
| 12 May 2005 |
| |
We taped a new sketch for "Real Time with Bill Maher" which is aired on the final show of last season on HBO. I played a highly conservative mom who is concerned about her son learning such "dangerous" theories as "evolution" and "global warming," so she calls the "Un-Learning Annex."
So much fun to shoot -- Scott Carter and the whole crew were great to work with.

Check out some of the reviews for "Fractured Fairy Tales from the East" at NoHo Arts Center:

"Deb Hiett excels in her comedic characters--particularly as a deer with an attitude..." -- Backstage West, 1/13/05
"Hiett really stands out with her constant accent changes and well-executed mannerisms." -- Valley Scene Magazine, 2/4/05
“This accomplished comedic actor is often responsible for the height of onstage hilarity.” --Backstage West, 1/20/05
