In Brie Larson's Upcoming Film "Unicorn Store" -- Premiering at TIFF 2017

Can't wait to see Brie Larson's directorial debut film "Unicorn Store," which will be premiering at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival! I shot a really fun scene for this unique and wonderful film, and I'm happy to report that Brie Larson is efficient, smart, generous, and kind -- both as director and actor. Excited to see the final result! It's a great script by Samantha McIntyre. Here's an interview with Brie for Variety

Fun at the 2017 Samuel French OOB Short Play Festival!

Thanks to all my NYC friends who came to support my short play, "The Presentation" at this year's Samuel French OOB Fest! I was thrilled my play was selected for the top 12 short plays selected for a second performance on Saturday.

Big cheers to my amazing actress, Julia Hochner, who did a fantastic job. And gratitude to the wonderful hard-working staff at Samuel French, who made the festival such a great celebration of new theater and storytelling. I left inspired!

New Play Reading: The Escape Thingy

Join me for the 2017 Playwrights Union "First Peek" Reading Series and hear the first draft reading of my new play, "The Escape Thingy."  Sunday June 11 at 4:30 p.m. at VS. Theatre, 5453 W. Pico Blvd in Los Angeles. Free tickets available at the door and online here.

Featuring the amazing acting talents of Ben Atkinson, Kyla Garcia, Victoria Ortiz, Penny Peyser, Mark L. Taylor, and Lizzie Zerebko, this play is what happens when two very different couples meet in an Escape Room, each needing different types of escape. The clock is literally ticking as they attempt to solve the puzzles, navigate alternative facts, and weigh the risks of returning to the world outside.

I think it's a comedy. But I'll keep you posted (or come see for yourself!). Here's my motley crew at rehearsal (except for Kyla, who is off somewhere smiling just as hard as everyone else in the cast):

The 2017 Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Festival -- finalist!

NYC, I'm coming back! My short play "The Presentation" was selected as one of the top 30 finalists in the 2017 Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Festival, August 8 - 12. It will be performed at Classic Stage Company Theatre in New York City.

For the past 42 years, the Festival has given emerging playwrights the opportunity to have their work produced with the support of such theatres as The Public Theater, The Royal Court, Ensemble Studio Theatre,  The Flea Theatre, The Living Theatre, and Naked Angels, and with the backing of prestigious university playwriting programs such as The New School for Drama, Columbia University, University of Iowa, and Tisch School of the Arts’ Dramatic Writing Program.

This year, over 1,000 plays and musicals were submitted. It's SUCH an honor to be selected as one of the final 30!

"The Super Variety Match Bonus Round!" is a Finalist for the 2017-2018 Reva Shiner Comedy Award. Every year, Bloomington Playwrights Project chooses from unpublished plays submitted from across the country. I'm so excited that my play was recognized.

I'm also thrilled that the Rogue Machine Theatre production was nominated for FIVE StageRaw Awards! Recognized for their achievement is the entire cast for "Best Comedy Ensemble," both Bonnie Bailey-Reed and Victoria Ortiz for "Best Female Comedy Performance," Stephanie Kerley Schwartz for "Best Set Design," and the entire Rogue design team for "Best Production Design." Congratulations to them all, and a special shout-out to our fearless director, Cameron Watson!

On the Screen: In ABC's "American Crime" with Felicity Huffman!

Look for me in Episode 5 of this season's "American Crime" on ABC. I play Alice, a real estate agent trying to help Jeannette, Felicity Huffman's character. It was a fun day on the set, with our wonderful director Tanya Hamilton.

I think the episode will air Sunday April 9 on ABC. Check local listings for times. Here's hoping my scene isn't cut! Hooray for the unpredictability of the business we call show!
