Staged Reading of "This Is Crazy" at South Dakota State University!

Had a wonderful time working with the students and faculty of South Dakota State University (go Jackrabbits!). Their 2026 Festival of New Plays was a great event, and I loved giving a lecture, attending rehearsals, mentoring a talented senior, meeting the two other selected playwrights, and visiting the tractor museum!

Sure, okay, it was TWO degrees, but everyone’s spirits were warm and welcoming. The audience enjoyed the reading of “This Is Crazy” and I learned a lot about what to work on in the next rewrite.

THANKS to Jim Wood and everyone who made this workshop possible!

READING: "This Is Crazy" at South Dakota State University in 2026

So excited to bundle up and be a part of the “Festival of New Plays” at South Dakota State University, February 19-22, 2026! I’ll be workshopping my play “This Is Crazy!”

Each night of the Festival, there will be a different staged reading of a new play, followed by a discussion with the playwright. I’m honored to be joined by Aly Kantor (“The Care and Feeding of Restless Souls”) and Chelsea Sutton ( “I’ll Be Your Villain”). The festival concludes with short plays written, rehearsed and produced by students over the course of one day.

I’ve always had such a great experience working with the talented students, faculty and staff at SDSU, and look forward to this next trip. Ticketing and more info here.

Reading of "The Escape Thingy" at SDS Festival of New Plays Sept 22 & 23!

So thrilled to be included in the inaugural Festival of New Plays at South Dakota State University! My play “The Escape Thingy” will have two reading performances: Sept 22 and 23.

The festival “celebrates the work of emerging playwrights while offering opportunities for students and the audience to engage in the development of new works.” I’m honored to be included alongside playwrights Caridad Svich, Amy Tofte, and Kristen Benjamin.

In “The Escape Thingy,” two very different couples meet in an "Escape Room" game night, each needing very different types of escape. The clock is literally ticking as they attempt to solve the puzzles, decide what reality to believe, and weigh the risks of unlocking the door to the dangerous world outside.

Can’t wait to visit Brookings and work with the director and cast there! For more info, click here.
